Highlights
Quality
Good solid product runs hood been had mine for over a solid 3 years n it’s still going :)
The build feels sturdy and well-made, so i’m confident it will last for years to come.
I gave it two stars at first because it kept disconnecting and transferring files very slowly after light use for a couple of weeks.
This external hard drive will not function without the external power supply connected!
Price
This is what i wanted and am happy to have - a great little external hard drive that works just as it should at an excellent price.
Value for money:considering its generous storage capacity, portability, high-speed data transfer, reliability, and durability, ... Read More
However, the price was too good to pass up.
I drive i bought was 20tb for $230.
Shipping
Needed this shipped quickly to my son at college and it arrived within two days of purchase over a weekend.
The hdd drive arrived earlier than expected.
Even though the package was delivered to the neighbors over a block away it finally arrived (about four days later!
Packaging/appearance
It's loudthe case wasn't fully snapped shut coming out of the box.
I asked the driver last minute to bring our package to the front door because of the rain, and he complied.
Competitiveness
I only rated it as four stars because there seems to be no way to contact seagate tech support, even if you allow pop-ups and cookies.
This was a few years ago, which i figured that by now the tech might be a bit better, which it is!
No reason to rate it less than a five, it's a seagate.
I'm not sure and since the seller did not identify it as such, i didn't have the opportunity to compare.

I bought this for my macbookair not realizing the connecting cable is usb and not usbc

If youre on a mac that has only usbc ports better to buy a backup drive with usb c cable or spend about 10 for a micro b to usbc cable to use with this seagate drive otherwise backing up is very very slow if you have to plug the hardrive into an adaptor first with usb port in order to then hook up with your mac

I decided to first plug it into my windows pc to see why it might have been returned and saw that it didnt show up at all so i went into disk management and it was visible there only it wasnt formatted

I did have an older seagate 4tb usb powered drive that seemed like it was two 2tb drives stripped together to make 4tb it was thicker and heavier than the regular drives but i think the usb port on the synology nas wasnt strong enough to power both drives
